Worn things (those with "houding", in beautifully descriptive Afrikaans) generally hold more aesthetic interest for me than those that are brand new and perfectly formed. My home is filled with items I've collected over the years, some having resided in my backpack for a few years while I made my way across various continents, others just picked up from the beach the other day. I love looking at them, and one morning while sipping my tea just after sunrise, I was inspired to photograph them against the rustic worn background of some planks of wood that washed up on the beach during one of the Cape's wild storms few years ago and which are now my steps.
I have added to the original collection as I found other worn gems with a visual texture and shape that begged to be photographed.
This series is available as limited edition Gicleé prints on beautifully textured Hahnemuhle German Etching archival paper at three sizes: 8x10", 12x16" and 18x22" prints.
Various framing and mounting options are available; please send me an email if you'd like to discuss your options.
