Twenty-twenty won

Although the designation "2020" is an incidental, slightly arbitrary, fictional construct we utilise for convenience along with other temporal designations, it can still be comforting to anthropomorphise an abstract concept and lump blame upon it for things for which there is no simple blame. (And when one offers "Because 2020." as a complete explanation, everybody understands.)

For some, 2020 definitely feels like it won, while for others it's brought opportunities to win where it would otherwise not have been possible. On the whole, I think it's been a messy, somewhat confusing, mishmash of both positives and negatives, difficulties and ease, heartache and gratitude. (And it's useful to remember that negatives don't negate positives, just as positives can't nullify negatives.)

And so our calendar turns over to 2021 and we turn, with a bit of relief mixed with trepidation, to face whatever sunshine and storm clouds this next revolution around our sun brings us...

May your coming year be filled with insight and wisdom, love and gratitude, compassion and companionship, breathspace and ease, aiding us all in counter-challenging the challenges we're bound to face, as well as allowing us to thoroughly appreciate the gifts that mingle within them.

With warmth, love and gratitude,
Andrea
