From environmental wellbeing to emotional nurturance, trees are one of the most simple, and effective, solutions to so many of the problems we face, hence planting them at a greater rate than they are being chopped down is as imperative as ceasing the slaughter of old growth forests.
For my 46th solstice birthday, I'd like to raise R4,600 for Greenpop's Forests For Life programme.
This year Greenpop held a tree planting festival in the Garden Route's Eden district, and although I was unable to actively participate, I certainly hope to be able to do so in the future. In the mean time, though, I thought it would be lovely to raise funds for Greenpop's inspirational, and very healing Collaborative Reforestation programme, which aims to decrease pressure on stressed ecosystems while assisting in accelerating their recovery. They seek to not only restore forest ecosystems through planting trees, but also to provide training in sustainable preservation practices such as alternative livelihoods, woodlot management, and farmer-managed natural regeneration, alongside reforestation.
If you're inclined, and only if you have the means, to donate, many people (most not even born yet) will benefit, and I for one would be most grateful!
With great big huge thanks, Andrea
