Bos-mist

January 24, 2018

Last Thursday afternoon a calm mist drifted in, cocooning us for a few days in a quiet whitened embrace and bringing with it 'she-rain': those softly soaking raindrops that gently slip down leaves, permeating the earth—and the soul. The kind of rain the whole country is crying for.

I heard that it extended all the way to Theewaters, and see that there was a soupçon of rain forecast in the Cape the past few days; not enough, by any means, to break the drought or relieve the water shortage, but perhaps enough to sprinkle rememberries of the sublime pleasure to be found in a deep appreciation for the simple yet immensely valuable things normally, formerly, taken for granted.

And while we may be struggling with the changes we're having to implement in our lives now, just like South Africans adopted a wonderfully innovative energy saving mindset through the load-shedding, I fully believe we're simply gaining wisdom through our current experiences which will stand us in good stead in our whole planet's imminently fresh-water-scarce future.
