Walking in my thoughts under a gently overcast sky, I glanced briefly at the dam and then back down at my feet. Rather than seeing the view, I was seeing my thoughts — which just at that moment happened to be about how frequently we are pulled away from the things that make life enjoyable by the things our minds try to convince us make life liveable, manageable and possible, which includes our thoughts. A moment later I looked back up again at the same view, only this time my gaze was pulled by an appreciation for the simple, yet profound and spirit-nourishing beauty in it... and just then some stars suddenly twinkled on in the brown reflected sky as unforecast raindrops began their dance over the water's surface to the accompaniment of frogsong, birdsong, and the droplets' own delicate popping.
My camera was at home—just across the road—and the gift from the sky lasted long enough for me to create some images to share a sense of rain...
