Archeological digs reveal new floors laid over old, embedded with pot shards and bones
Capital of the earliest known kingdom in sub-Saharan Africa that flourished from 900AD to 1300AD, very little remains of this ancient African civilization. Over the generations new floors were laid over the old ones. Archeological digs reveal that these are now meters thick, embedded with pot shards and bones.
