Grass grows out of holes carved in the rock for supporting posts for the huts on the summit of Mapungubwe Hill.
Capital of the earliest known kingdom in sub-Saharan Africa that flourished from 900AD to 1300AD, very little remains of this ancient African civilization. Stone mortars and round holes in the rock that were used to support the poles of the royal family's residence are some of the evidence that remains.
