Waterfall cascading into a natural dark rock pool with beautiful white foam swirls, surrounded by indigenous coastal fynbos.
Tinted red by the tannins in the indigeneous fynbos plants, most rivers in the area provide pure, fresh water. The white foam forming swirling edies of patterns on the surface of the water is caused by plant proteins being churned up, much like beaten egg, or sea foam. Internationally renowned, the five day Otter Trail is one of the most popular hiking trails in South Africa, encompassing the unique coastal environment of coastal forest, mountain fynbos as well as rocky and sandy shores.
